Happy Morning Baby

Sidney seems to be a morning person. She wakes up slowly while sucking her thumb and talking to her mobile friends. She is always happy to see Mommy or Daddy when they come into her room. I can only hope she continues with this behavior as the months and years go by.

Hi, I'm three months old

Sidney is three months old today! Mommy and Sidney celebrated by going to a Monday Morning Mommy Movie at a local theater. They allow infants into the early show and they can fuss and cry as much as they want. She was very well behaved despite filling two diapers during the hour and a half.

She is still sleeping through the night which we love so very much. She usually gives us a bit of a fuss before going to bed, but once she's out, she's out for the count. She is making all kinds of sounds and seems to add a new one everyday. It's amazing how much she has changed in three months, and we are looking forward to what happens next with her.

Some thoughts as we approach three months

As we're approaching Sidney's three month birthday, I am thinking of all the changes that have taken place. She is much more interactive now and is becoming more fun to be around. She has been sleeping through the night since around six weeks for which Davin and I are very, very grateful. The trick seems to be not running into her room at every stir or fuss. She seems to be good at putting herself back to sleep. The only challenge with sleep has been getting her to go to sleep in the first place. She get's very fussy in the late evening, and we have found it challenging to put her down. The thing that seems to work the best is nursing her right before bed. She will usually fuss a little bit, but be asleep within a few minutes. Then, she's out until 7 or 8am. Wonderful!

She really is a good baby. She seems to enjoy car rides though we haven't ventured too far from home yet. She will sit through a meal at a restaurant provided she isn't hungry or too warm. Davin and I have been able to enjoy many meals out because of her good nature. We feel very fortunate because we have always loved dining out and are glad we can continue to do so.

She loves to go for walks. We try to go on one everyday, and she seems to enjoy looking at all the sights - trees, lights, birds, cars, whatever. She is taking it all in I suppose.

I have been told by several people that things start to get really good around four months, and I am really looking forward to that. I am already starting to see the rewards for all the hard work Davin and I have put in with her over the last three months (and even during pregnancy.) So far, she is a happy baby and it is obvious she loves her parents. I feel very lucky to have had her.

The next post will be her three month picture in her pink, polka dot chair. Can't wait.

Hi, I'm two months old

Sidney turned two months old on Saturday. She's smiling more these days and she makes a new sound every day. This morning she had her two month pediatrician visit and she is doing just fine if a bit chunky. She went from the 50th to the 90th percentile in weight!! She's 13 pounds now which explains why it's getting harder to carry her up the stairs.

Happy Halloween

Today is Sidney's first Halloween. She wore her leopard costume given to her by cousins Linda and Joyce. We attended our neighborhood block party which Sidney slept through. We're now sitting and waiting for trick-or-treaters.

Sleepy Sunday Morning

It's hard to tell in this pic, but Sidney was flipping us the bird this morning. If she continues to do this after she gains control of her hands, then I will worry.

Sidney's One Month Old!

Today is Sidney's one-month birthday! We've decided to take a picture of her in her polka-dot chair each month to record her growth. Thanks to our friend and real estate agent Sheri for the chair. She thought that Sidney wouldn't get to use it for awhile, but we found an early use for it!

Great pics of Sidney

Last Sunday, we had a farewell dinner for my parents who had been here for three weeks helping with Sidney and keeping us company. We invited our friends, Kevin and Denise, over to join us. Denise took these pictures of Sidney and I absolutely love them.

Wish they all could be California girls

On the evening of September 7, 2009, Sidney Sharon Swanson was born. She weighed in at a whopping 7 pounds, 7 ounces and was 18 inches tall.

With our family and friends spread out across the country, we want to use this blog as a way to connect with everyone near and far. Please check in often. We will do our best to keep it up to date between naps and feedings and crying jags.
